After reading this blog for years and even contributing at times it is growing tired, as much as Wildes is bad for the University, this blog is a mimic, a shadow of the ugliness and everything else that is wrong with the attitudes that are prevalent within certain groups at the school (curmudgeon faculty). You are as bad as Wildes with this deconstructive discussion. And please don't try to claim you are 'shedding light' on injustice or try to hide behind some self-concocted righteousness .
Oh right, you're so tired of all the insults (real or imagined) that your precious self-righteous egos have had to endure since Pathways.
Never mind that most of the members here weren't affected in the least. But I guess misery loves company.
Some who post here do not work at Loyola anymore, perhaps they left on their on volition or perhaps were canned. Many are here with ulterior motives--would hate to see Loyola improve--which skew their reaction to anything re: Loyola.
Stop the madness. For people over 30 you act like children here. Perhaps it is a way for you to vent all your fucked up aggression and feelings. I pray I never had any of you for class when I was a student many years ago. I am still proud of this school. I am still proud of how this school shaped me through learning and experience. I am proud of the teachers who actually gave a damn about teaching instead of bitching. You sound like CEO's complaining about only making $1 million a year.
Bobby Jindal and Kevin Wildes -- can you think of a better pair to star in "Beavis and Butthead Meet Bush and Cheney"(or "A Crisis is a Terrible Thing to Waste")?
Before these guys can promote critical thinking, they have to think .... Period. And since they have no mechanism to support a single momentary thought .... The result is that poor, dear acting justly is hanging out somewhere flapping in the wind. (The same wind that you can hear whistling through the hollow space between the ears of W & J if you stand close enough.)
I have the same reaction -- this reception thing is a trap. I have the paranoid delusion that they will hand me a drink, a piece of cheese and a pink slip telling me I'm terminated for Pathways II.
Now if it was Wildes' farewell reception, I'd move heaven and earth to be there. And I would help him achieve a speedy departure.
I understand they are inviting all of the Colleges there one at a time. I do think that they are so stupid they think that they can buy good will with finger food.
I also think maybe Kvet is trying to socialize Wildes. It won't be long before he gives up on that, I'm sure.
I'm sort of scared to go. I think it's a trap of some sort.
Yeah, and their reception is during class time. So those who are teaching either don't go or cancel class. Not that I care. I have no intention of going. Guess I won't know why they're doing it. Seems a crazy thing to do when they are crying poor mouth and setting up excuses for renigging on their 3% pay raise. I'd rather have the money they're spending on this crap in my pay check where I know the money will be most needed and not wasted on buying good will through finger food.
Bobby Jindal is turning down federal money which would have meant extended payments for people out of work. Aside from some rather specious legal arguments, the main concerns seem to be: his simplistic Republican ideology, and his desire to protect business interests. Now, that's a great example of social justice. And his comments about visiting Sheriff Lee in the days after Katrina, made on his nationally televised debut/farewell, have been shown to be a lie. And Loyola's response? Invite the Slumdog Governor to be commencement speaker. "Thinking justly, acting unjustly."
The faculty of the College of Humanities and Natural Sciences received an invitation by email from the President and the Provost yesterday. Ed and Kevin are hosting a reception in the Diboll Gallery, 3-5 p.m. on March 18. No reasons for this party were stated.
I know Tulane faculty are not getting raises. However, Loyola is looking at a HUGE deficit that gets bigger every day. We'll be lucky if they don't cut our salaries!
Rumor has it that Xavier faculty will get their usual 5% raise. UNO faculty will have it tougher since Governor Screw-Louisiana wants to cut higher ed spending. What about the Loyola faculty?
Absolutely NOTHING is better than Wildes, Byron and the BoT.
Loyola would do well if the president's office remained empty for a while. If for no other reason than to make sure all the vermin are gone!
Perhaps "A crisis is a terrible thing to waste" Garanzini will be interim president. I'm sure there are some folks here who would like to give him a reality check.
No, Byron wouldn't be better. He'd be just about equally bad. Let's hope that the mummy case that Wildes is loading into the moving truck contains Byron.
Have the moving trucks showed up at his dorm room yet? Has the interim President been named? I hope it isn't that senile misogynist Byron again. Well, even he'd probably be better than Wildes.
7:00 am is correct. I said nothing about conscientious objectors.
I protested the Vietnam War, the Nixon administration, the Pathways to hell plan, and the current administration of Loyola University New Orleans. It is my right to do so. I will not shut up just because someone calls me names.
It would take very little to fix LUNO. Correct (or even admit) the errors made in Pathways, and you'll see lots of people climb on the bandwagon.
We should all pray for the sake of our students that Angry Prof is NOT a history professor. Nothing in 3:47's comment even referenced conscientious objectors.
Trying to pass yourself off as a person with a constructive goal here doesn't fool anyone.
The only way the university will go on without us is with fewer students. Fewer students means the need for even fewer professors, although it does not seem to mean the need for fewer administrators. Fewer students and fewer professors means a university that is dwindling in size.
And that's happening. No one wants to come here - students or even new faculty at the quality level of those who have left. I'll wager it will close by 2012 just in time for its centennial year. But don't worry, I'm sure they'll keep you until the bitter end because you're obviously the most qualified professor.
If you think you can stop that, Angry Professor, Good Luck.
I almost can't believe that you would even begin to compare yourself to the conscientious objectors of the Vietnam era. But then again, I can. This is symptomatic of the problem that all of the complainers at Loyola experience. This University *will* go on without you, believe it or not. This place needs energy and a positive attitude right now, not a subversive, passive-aggressive, secret society of faculty scorned who think they are saving the day.
Now let's get on the same team and fix this place.
Real talk out--FAR out.

So Real Talk, are you drunk? You don't even make any sense.

It must be Beavis because Wildes is Butthead.
Posted by: | February 26, 2009 at 12:05 PM
How low can Loyola go? And when did Wildes stop copying everything Tulane's president was doing and start existing in the parallel universe of OLHC?
Who will be his next roll model? Beavis or Butthead?

Loyola should be SO proud! Bobby Jindal is also the speaker at the commencement of that bastion of Higher Ed Our Lady of Holy Cross College! WOW!
Posted by: | February 25, 2009 at 02:41 PM
Bobby (the village idiot) Jindal will speak at graduation!?!
Loyola IS the epicenter of the confederacy of dunces!!!

Wildes leaving?
I haven't heard the fat lady singing.
Somehow I can't beleive that Loyola could be so lucky!
But if it's true, you can find me dancing and waving as the moving van pulls off the campus.

Posted by: | February 20, 2009 at 10:25 PM
OK!
Let's start by getting rid of Loyola's ALL-TIME greatest liability, the Least Reverend Kevin Wm. Wildes, S.J., Ph.D, J.A.
