Don't you all get it???

Wildes wants to be Loyola's last president - just in time for the centennial.

Wildes MUST GO!

Before they slam the door on the way out, they tell you how stupid you are for selecting Bobby Jindal to speak at graduation. Just one more reason to boycott.

yes, it is

Some young wordsmith has coined an especially appropriate term for these times at Loyola.

Fuckery.

That says it all.

feeling WOOSIE

Frozen,eh? You effing SOBs better keep the commitments you have already made to the people who work at Loyola. If you don't, there will be blue flu and then some.

How do you run a university without faculty or staff? You don't. Then ALL the students leave!

senior

I believe the students who started it are keeping it limited to graduating seniors of 2009 (summer or fall), or those who graduated in fall '08 but want to attend the ceremony. Here's the link to the facebook group about the petition:

Disgusted in Student Affairs

Rhonda's moral center has been transferred to Cissy Petty - she cannot even keep an assistant in her office! Hello, common sense will tell you where the problem lies! She treats her staff like slaves/personal servants - she is a major liability to the university - does anyone in Marquette see this? Take off the rose colored glasses & see the destruction she has caused throughout the campus & with those who were/are loyal to Loyola - this is not the Jesuit way. I heard that one of her top staff members in Co-Curricular Programs resigned, I haven't confirmed that, but if true, that should open eyes...released from the bonds of slavery! I'm sure they're celebrating! Someone please wake up!

Can anyone sign the petition?

Exactly, 9:20. It's her lack of a moral center that is still safe and sound in Marquette. It's now embodied in a fat effeminate man with a bad beard.

Rhonda Cartwright has a moral center?

That is news to me.

As history demonstrates, Wildes doesn't give a damn what the faculty, staff and students want. It's what HE wants. There must be something in it for HIM to get Bobby Jindal to talk.

I hope the petition is successful, but I have already decided to just boycott graduation. Who wants to waste time sitting there listening to that crap?

Marquette Hall is full of lying creeps and never fear, Rhonda Cartwright's moral center is safe and sound in the staff on the 2nd floor.

I hate the lying bastards.

Any graduating seniors reading this who DON'T want Bobby Jindal speaking at commencement this spring need to go to the LUCAP office and sign the petition. Even if we can't stop this fuckery, we can at least let Papa Wildes and the rest know how we feel about it.

moving on soon, too

Loyola is not on the right track yet. Don't be fooled for an instant. Students are thought of as revenue sources in the short run but real educational needs are not being met. Want a new program? Just convince some sub-VP that it will make a few thousand for next year. Voila! The Special Man says, "Give it to 'em!" Employee rights continue to be trampled on. Employees are viewed as disposable drones. By the time people who are students now want to visit their old school as successful alumni, there will not be anyone they knew left.

The Greater Good? HA! Planning and rules at an institution of higher education? Double HA!! Congratulations to all those who have moved on.

That is a powerful quote, 10:13. Because Wildes has said, in essence, "The board made me do it," he is in the position of being the puppet of the board now and forevermore. Anything he says is unreliable because it can be overruled by the board or any other entity he will let boss him around.

There can be no Loyola turnaround until he is gone. What's taking so long???

I don't think exonerated is the right word, WIAFI. What I heard is that his accuser recanted his accusation. That causes even more pain, I think, in the long run because he wasn't found not guilty of his actions, the guy admitted he made it up - there were no actions to be found not guilty of. When I think of all the lives that have been damaged or destroyed because of the lies of one man who probably wanted to get some of the money that the catholic church has had to dole out, it really makes me sick.

WIAFI

Speaking of Bernie Knoth. I heard rumor that he was exonerated of the charges against him that caused his dismissal from Loyola.

If true, why wasn't THAT put on the front page of the T-P, along with an apology for smearing his good name BEFORE the proof of guilt?

It's time for Loyola to have a non-Jesuit president.
I'm voting for KNOTH.

More evidence that Wildes needs to go. From Hard Facts by Pfeffer and Sutton:

"Leaders who claim that 'it isn’t my fault' and 'I couldn’t have done anything about it' aren’t doing themselves or their organizations any favors over the long haul. Deflecting blame might help them keep their jobs for a time, enjoy better mental health, and persist in the face of failure. But ducking the heat shatters the illusion of control. Investors, customer, employees, and the press conclude that leaders who don’t take responsibility for mistakes and setbacks lack the power to make things better. Controlled experiments by Fiona Lee and her colleagues show that hypothetical managers who took responsibility for bad events like pay freezes and failed projects were seen as more powerful, competent, and likeable than managers who denied responsibility."

He'll NEVER admit that he did the wrong thing. He'll never admit that Loyola is in decline while other New Orleans Universities are prospering. He's a poor leader and a poor human being. He needs to go!

A party sponsored and attended by Wildes? Great way to spend money when there isn't any. Unless we are celebrating his long overdue departure, there are simply too many other ways I would rather spend my time.

Have a tooth or two pulled without anisthetic.
Smash a hammer on each fingertip, one at a time.
Help SDT collect garbage for a day.
Listen to fingernails being drawn down a chalk board for two hours.
Clean a bathroom, even someone else's

As much as some people did not appreciate some of Bernie's habits or tactics, he would not have done what Wildes did after Katrina. He wouldn't have done the things Byron did to Loyola either. There was a joke floating around a while back about an accused pedophile, an egomaniac, and a psychopath. Or was it a bumper sticker that said, "Vote for the alleged pedophile! It's important!"? If he's not dead, maybe he can get his old job back.

No, you're not. He's not dead.

Real Talk

Ok, you got me. I'm the ghost of Bernie Knoth. I've come back to haunt you all until they allow you to smoke wherever you want on campus again.

Your Webmasters

Dear Real Talk,

The blog clearly says the comments are moderated and subject to approval.

If we don't know who uses particular "handles" instead of their names, it is unlikely that you do. In fact, we do not necessarily know whether a particular "handle" is used by more than one person. Your guess at the identity of someone who wishes to remain anonymous was inappropriate, so we removed it.

We are pretty sure we know who you are. Would you find it appropriate if we took a guess?

Sorry, but if you don't like our attempts to protect the innocent, don't post.

Real Talk

To the Admin of this blog:

Please don't post my material if it's going to be edited.

Damned Bitch

Some of us give much more than a damn about teaching but we must bitch about what took place in 2006. The two are not mutually exclusive and might even be highly correlated. And we are sick of what continues to go on at Loyola, too. That is no small part of the reason why so many excellent faculty and staff members have left since 2007. But don't confuse the behavior of people who want to see the problem solved with what caused it in the first place. If you know anything about what really took place, and it seemed to me that Real Talk was exquisitely informed in the past, then the acerbity on this blog should not be a surprise. It might not even be out of proportion to what was done to people in 2006 by the administration and the board who have not even offered an apology for their obviously bad decisions that continue to affect Loyola's reputation, not to mention its bottom line.

CFAPOI

What is "a curmudgeon faculty?" If that would be the people who are still working at Loyola, weren't fired and haven't left, still work their asses off for the benefit of the students, but will not ever forget Pathways and will not accept its consequences, will remind those in charge that justice has yet to be done, then some of us might start sporting buttons or bumper stickers that say "Curmudgeon Faculty and Proud Of It!"

The wrongs have not been righted even if some circumstances on campus are a bit better than they were a few years ago. It is understandable for people to be tired of the low morale or continuing complaints from some faculty, staff and students, but there is no resolution yet for those of us who will continue to work at Loyola after the next (and the next and the next) class graduates.

Just get over it and move on? Not until it is resolved with justice for our terminated colleagues and real commitment to adhere to our contract in the future.
